Santa Maria Navarrese in the south is part of the Baunei municipality, and is a famous seaside centre, full of historical interest, nature to see and places to stay. The Central Beach of Santa Maria Navarrese is situated in the homonymous town, it is an expansive beach with alternating patches of medium-grained sand and rocks, fringed by vegetation and shielded from the wind. Dominated by a Spanish coastal tower, it is enclosed by rock formations to the south and a tourist port that serves as a starting point for boat excursions to the Golof di Orosei’s cove to the north.
The modern Tourist Port of Baunei and Santa Maria Navarrese, inaugurated in 1998, is a welcoming and safe harbour on the east coast of Sardinia which can accommodate up to 340 vessels of up to 30m in length. Each year the port has attracted more visitors thanks to both the quality of its services and the magical setting in which its located, a little bay with its view of Santa Maria Navarrese's Saracen tower and its beach.
